Liza and Isaac met on a gorgeous June afternoon at a friend’s birthday party in Boulder, Colorado. Liza was a newly minted graduate of the University of Colorado, while Isaac was staying an extra semester to conclude his studies. Although they had a staggering number of mutual friends from their time at CU, their paths, curiously, had never crossed until then. 

Their first conversation was a meeting that went beyond casual introductions. As Liza likes to recount – she was immediately smitten with Isaac and thought he was the perfect embodiment of tall, dark, and handsome. He had a presence unlike anyone she had ever met. Isaac was as equally struck by her inquisitive mind and lively wit that could slice through a can of LaCroix. As summer gave way to fall, their friendship ripened into a romance as heady and swift as the autumn winds. Early memories of their courtship include dancing under the starlit canopy at music festivals, nocturnal bicycle outings, and chasing each other up and down Colorado’s legendary 14ers.

Liza and Isaac cemented their relationship in March of 2016, with both of them rooted in Denver. They spent a year cultivating their relationship at a (trans-Pacific) distance after Liza moved to Taipei, Taiwan to teach English and explore Asia. Never one to miss out on an adventure, Isaac adopted the digital nomad lifestyle and moved to Taipei to live with her. They spent their first year cohabitating together in the vibrant heart of one of the most densely populated neighborhoods on earth and took every opportunity they could to travel to neighboring countries. This time of their lives has been instrumental to shaping their relationship and laying the foundation of how they wish to spend their time. Much of their joy has been found in transit, on motorbikes cutting through Vietnam’s landscape, in the tranquility of the Gili Island waters.

After 5 years together, with the confidence of a love matured, Liza knew it was time to intertwine Isaac into the deeper narrative of her past. Nothing says “I love you” like a trip to the motherland – the splendor of Russia awaited them. They spent three magical weeks in St. Petersburg and Moscow, basking in the white nights of the north, visiting countless museums and ornate palaces that spoke of empires past, and feasting their eyes and minds on boat rides and architecture tours. They spontaneously booked a trip to Dagestan, a region in southern Russia close to the Caspian sea. It was in the high altitude of Gunibsk where Isaac, amidst a backdrop of raw beauty and the encouragement of a grazing cow, proposed to Liza. It was the easiest “да” of her life. That night, they were showered with love by their magnificent hosts who threw them a traditional celebration, complete with the lezginka dance and live music.

After luxuriating in a longer than normal engagement, we’re jet-setting once again for the big “I do”. In the spirit of their love for travel, Liza and Isaac are thrilled to have you join them in the verdant climes of the Yucatán to celebrate their union. It is a convening of the people who have mapped the contours of their individual and collective lives, and who they hope will witness the continuation of their shared journey. They feel immensely lucky to be able to celebrate their love surrounded by the people dearest to them. We can’t wait to “arriba, abajo, al centro, adentro – I DO” with you!
